סיכון גבוה במשך כל השנה באזורי האמזונס:
: Acre, Amapa, Amazonas, Maranhao (western part), Mato Grosso (northern part), Parב (except Belem City), Rondonia, Roraima, and Tocantins
הסיכון הכי גבוה באזור מכרות ובהתישבויות חדשות,
סיכון יותר קל קיים בערים:
Cuiaba, Rio Branco, Manaus, Boa Vista, Macapa, Santarem, Maraba, and Porto Velho
מטיילים היוצאים לשייט באזור האמזונס נמצאים בסיכון .
אין סיכון מלריה במחוזות החוף מן הקרן עד גבול אורוגבאי, במפלי איגואסו ואתרי תיירות מרכזיים

High risk exists throughout the year in forested areas of the Legal Amazonia region: Acre, Amapa, Amazonas, Maranhao (western part), Mato Grosso (northern part), Para (except Belem city where risk is low), Rondonia, Roraima, and Tocantins (western part). Risk is highest in mining and newly settled areas as these have over 50% P. falciparum. Some risk exists on the periphery of cities and towns such as Rio Branco, Manaus, Boa Vista, Macapa, Santarem, Maraba, and Porto Velho. Travelers on the trans-Amazon highway and on Amazon cruises are at risk. No risk exists in coastal states from the horn to the Uruguay border, Iguassu Falls, and other major tourist and business destinations (Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Recife, Fortaleza, and Porto Alegre). Risk on typical Pantanal tourist itineraries is negligible.
ARGENTINA
Risk (exclusively P. vivax) exists in infrequently visited rural lowland areas of the northern provinces of Jujuy, Salta (on the Bolivian border), Corrientes, and Misiones (on the Paraguay border). There is no risk for travelers to Iguassu Falls
