לא הייתי שם, אבל אספתי קצת חומר. השאלה שלך מאד כללית.

7.07 - Traveling though EG was one of the highlights of Africa. The people there were incredible and Monte Allen National Park is really the only place on the contininte where an independant traveler can actually experience pristine rainforests of the Congo basin. It's cheap and you will actually get a chance see animals form Gorrilas, to Drills Chimpanses, and other rare species.

Transportation

Boats
11.07 - Maritime transport between the island of Bioko, port of Malabo, to Bata port (mainland) is posible, but it is slow, painful, it’s no healthiness and it’s infrequently. Although its great advantage is the price. Each trip costs 15,000 fcfa. The theoretical frequency is weekly. But it sets sail for Bata when it sets sail. Theoretically it sets sail from Malabo Wednesday morning for Bata and from Bata it sets sail for Malabo on Thursday night. The tour takes place in approximately 12 hours, so we must add both ascent to the boat as the fall, so we can calculate an approximate 16 and 18 hours
11.07 - It's possible to cross from cocobeach to Cogo/Acalayong....you MUST get an exit stamp, and be prepared to give small bribes to the officials on the EG side.
Boats from Cocobeach leave from the central port in town, but you must go to the boarder patrol office behind the hotel. Just ask around and you'll figure it out.
Cogo's a pretty and interesting town...not much to do, of course!
8.07- There is a ferry for travel from Malabo to the mainland.
11.07 - Ferry from Malabo to mainland Cameroon - I understand the same ferry does a circular loop island-mainland-Douala. It is reputed to be up to 24 hours but, here is the crunch, is reportedly a dangerous journey for Westerners - full of oportunities for being robbed, ripped-off or worse. I intended taking it earlier this year but several Cameroonian friends expressed their horror at the idea. Tale the plane.Dave
Taxi
l.p. – from Mongomo to Bata - $8.

Security
8.07 - I travelled there one yeay ago (with boyfriend): Malabo and Bata (to the cameroon border)
It seemed all very safe, i mean i didn't feel threatened, was not robbed or anything although we were carrying all of our money as there are no possibilities to get cash at all (banks don't take traveller checks, there is Money Gramm).
People were very nice. Lots of western people, they are all working in the oil industry. Lots of local prostitutes surrounding them, but they were nice too.
Must say that a lot of people working there warned us about possible risks; mostly about police, army checkpoints. It is indeed a very scary regime they have.
I advise you to have all the paperwork in order; you have to go to the ministry of tourism for example to get permits for taking pictures, travelling around. Police ask you for it all the time. The first picture i took i had to show it to a policeman. They are very serious about it! But if you can show the papers they let you go on. We showed copies of our passports and that seemed to be no problem.
When you get to Bata, you have to apply for new permits again.
The local airline we used didn't seem very safe, but there are no other possibilities if you want to go to the mainland. There are no boats i think.
As for clothes; you would have no problem wearing whatever you want.
8.07 - I travel to EG often and I have many friends from Equatorial Guinea who attend/have attended the University of New Mexico. It is very safe to travel in EG and crime of any sort is minimal. The indigenous population is quite friendly and willing to assist you especially if you reciprocate and allow folk to practice their English (no different than travel in many other developing countries) to enhance their opportunities to participate in the ever growing economy dominated by the developed world.

language
8.07 - If you speak Spanish you'll have no problem. In Malabo and border towns on the mainland you could get by with French.
